Ainara began working at Cityzen back in 2016, providing us with additional architecture, design and technical skills.
Ainara studied Architecture at the University of the Basque Country, graduating in 2015 with a Master’s qualification. During her studies Ainara found herself an internship at an architect’s studio in Spain where, as the sole employee, she gained valuable experience delivering conservation, residential and educational projects.
Her specialist interests complement our practice really well:
One of the very first projects Ainara worked on with John was the renovation and extension of a Grade 2 listed building in the Sussex Downs; a project that required nearly 200 drawings and sketches to detail what was required rebuild, extend, and restore the property!
We are thrilled that this project recently won two awards in as many weeks:
Earlier this year, Ainara’s application to the ARB was accepted and we’re delighted that she can at last call herself an architect in the UK.
Did you know…in the UK the title ‘architect’ is protected by law (section 20 of the Architects Act 1997)?
Only those who have had the education, training and experience needed to become an architect, and who are registered with the ARB (Architects Registration Board), are legally entitled to call themselves an architect. The ARB is an independent body, set up by Parliament as the UK’s regulator of architects, and maintains the official UK Register of Architects.
